do you like small intimate shows filled with passionate lovers of music? then this concert would be the one for you. warehouse xi, with its small but well decorated one-room space, adorned with vines of ivy leaves, potted plants, and atmospheric blue-pink-purplish lighting, sets the stage for a warm, intimate, personal, and relational concert experience.

the first artist in the line up, mingko, came on stage in an oversized sweater with an adorable black and white pattern, a long black skirt, and doc martens. as she picked up her guitar and approached the mic, she introduced her band: a keyboardist, two guitarists, and a drummer. the setlist was a delightful lineup of indie rock with varying levels of intensity. as the band played in perfect sync behind her, she swayed to the music, the crowd following suit. it was easy to get lost in her beautiful vocals and strong guitar skills, and let the music wash over you. the crowd, just a few feet from the speakers, cheered for them as their time came to a close.

the second artist in the lineup, new bounce collective, took the stage shortly after. the mc, mahdi, introduced the keyboardist, drummer, bassist and guitarist. he shouted out mingko for her talent, and thanked the audience for their presence and support. both mingko and new bounce collective are made up of berklee students, which helped in creating the sense of community and humanness that made this show feel so special. new bounce’s setlist was composed of modern funk, neo-soul, jazz and hip-hop with each member beautifully upholding their role in the harmony. the audience swayed back and forth, moved by mahdi’s lyrical and rhythmic flow, accompanied by the skill of the band. near the end of the set, mahdi turned to the crowd for words to incorporate into
his freestyle, which was met with timidness and shy excitement from the people in the front.

the atmosphere of warmth and community was even more overwhelming once the headliners, ehiorobo and icarus moth came on. their passion and love for their music was clear to see, icarus moth taking to the keyboard with flair and ehiorobo dancing with the mic and hitting every high and low note of each track. this show is part of the two artists' shared tour for their collaborative ep mutamelior, a unique and hypnotic blend of indie-pop, r&b, electronic, and dance music with a hip-hop influence. although they are fairly niche, they have an engaged and supportive following. the rhythmic, groovy production of the ep, combined with ehiorobo’s impressive vocal range and unique
style made for a very enjoyable live experience. for the song do you, ehiorobo called up aurelia, the track’s featured artist. She bounced onto the stage and sang into the mic with reckless passion, whipping her long wavy hair back and forth with the

music. her enthusiasm brough the crowd’s energy up, and by the last track, the whole room was dancing and many were singing along. ehiorobo and icarus moth concluded the show with expressing their gratitude to the audience for their love and support.
after the show, the artists reconvened with their friends and supporters and congratulated each other. there were many fist bumps, hugs, and expressions of gratitude exchanged, and the lasting feeling in the room was one of community, warmth, and tremendous passion for music. top 5 small venue concerts!
thanks to ehiorobo and warehouse xi for the experience!
